Dr. Daniel S. Lehman of White Plains, a urologist at Putnam Hospital Center, Carmel, tied for first place in the clinical category of the 2007 essay contest of the Endourological Society, a nonprofit organization that facilitates the scientific dialogue among endourologists.

McLaren Engineering Group, West Nyack, a firm that specializes in bridge engineering, structural design, marine engineering, underwater investigations, entertainment design, forensic studies, and site/civil engineering, was ranked among the region’s top design firms by New York Construction News, a trade magazine. McLaren Engineering Group was ranked 24th for specialty revenue (transportation), 61st for state revenue (New York) and 64th for regional revenue (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut).

Liesl Hotaling of Beacon was appointed chief education officer at The Beacon Institute for Rivers and Estuaries, Beacon, a not-for-profit environmental research organization. Since 2000, Hotaling worked at the Stevens Institute for Technology, Hoboken, N.J., most recently as assistant director for the Center for Innovation in Engineering and Science Education, and initially as Internet training specialist. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in marine science from Fairleigh Dickinson University, a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Monmouth University and a Master of Science degree in maritime systems from the Stevens Institute of Technology.
