Ability Beyond Disability, Bethel, Conn., a nonprofit organization that provides services to individuals with disabilities, presented Rita Reynolds of Wappingers Falls, nurse manager for New York, based in the organization’s Mount Kisco office, with its 2007 Outstanding Employee Award. Reynolds oversees nursing care in six individual residential alternatives in the lower Hudson Valley.


 

Newsmakers

Anne Nelson of Goshen was appointed vice president of patient services and chief nursing officer at Northern Dutchess Hospital, Rhinebeck. Since 1983, Nelson worked at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown and Goshen, most recently as administrator of cardiopulmonary and diabetes services and previously as administrator of diabetes services. She holds both a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Science degree in health services administration from the New School for Social Research and a Master of Science degree in nursing from Western Connecticut State University.

Carol L. Smith of New Windsor was appointed vice president for government initiatives and special projects at the Orange County Chamber of Commerce, Montgomery. Most recently, Smith was general manager of marketing at Stewart International Airport, New Windsor. Prior to that, she was vice president for community outreach and marketing at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh and Cornwall. From 1988 to 2001, she was director of community relations and education at The Cornwall Hospital, Cornwall. She joined The Cornwall Hospital in 1982.

Jean Jacobs of Kingston was appointed practice administrator at Toback Podiatry, Kingston, a multi-disciplinary practice that provides foot health care. Jacobs has 34 years of experience in the medical and educational health-care industry, including serving as director of continuing medical education and administrative podiatric residency coordinator at Benedictine Hospital, Kingston, from 1999 to 2004.

John McVay of Middletown was appointed director of stewardship at the Orange County Land Trust, Middletown, a nonprofit organization dedicated to land conservation and land protection in Orange County. Most recently, McVay was a postgraduate stewardship intern at the Wood River Land Trust, Hailey, Idaho. He holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees - in history and political science ­ from the University of Rochester and a Master of Professional Studies degree in environmental science from the State University of New York School of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse University.
