The AMERICAN MARKETING
ASSOCIATION held its 12th annual
Student Business Day Conference in April 2008. The conference
attracted more than 125 students from SUNY New Paltz
as well as surrounding community colleges. In addition,
ever year a large number of business alumni, faculty
and business executives attend the conference.
ROSALIE CARTIER of Red Hook was named the Northern Dutchess
Hospital Employee of the Year. She is an operating room
nurse and has worked at Northern Dutchess Hospital, located
in Rhinebeck, since 1981.
The COMMUNITY
FOUNDATION OF ORANGE AND SULLIVAN moved
its offices into the Orange County Chamber of Commerce
Business Center in Montgomery. The new address is 30

THE HARBORS AT
HAVERSTRAW, a resort lifestyle neighborhood
along the Hudson River waterfront, has been named one
of the nation’s premier communities, earning the gold
citation in the category of Best Communities 151 Homes
and Over in the 2007 Best in American Living Awards (BALA).
The BALA awards are sponsored by the National Association
of Home Builders and Professional Builder magazine. Additionally,
the awards are sometimes called the Oscars of homebuilding
and are among the most recognized in the industry, drawing
hundreds of entries from top builders nationwide.
The HOTEL KIRKLAND in Kingston received an award for
Excellence in Historic Preservation from the Preservation
League of New York State in Albany. The award was presented
at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City in May.
BARBARA MALLEY of Gardiner, vice president and branch
manager of Riverside Bank in Poughkeepsie was given the
2008 Leadership Dutchess Distinguished Alumni Award by
The Chamber Foundation Inc., the educational arm of the
Greater Southern Dutchess Chamber of Commerce. She serves
on the board of directors of the Greater Southern Dutchess
Chamber of Commerce and Zonta International in Newburgh,
a global organization of executives and professionals
working together to advance the status of women worldwide
through service and advocacy.
SHANE MULSTAY of Malden-on-Hudson was named employee
of the year for The Thompson House, a 100-bed skilled
nursing facility located on the campus of Northern Dutchess
Hospital in Rhinebeck. He is a skilled mechanic who has
worked at The Thompson House for the past four years.
SUPERIOR WIRELESS, a cell phone service provider with
locations in Rhinebeck, Hyde Park and Millbrook, was
awarded its second “Top Gun” Award and the General Manager’s
Award for Excellence at the Verizon Wireless Annual Indirect
Retailer Summit – Upstate New York Agent Symposium in
January 2008.

CHIP ALLEMANN of Garrison was appointed
chairman of the board of Glynwood Center, a not-for-profit
organization in Cold Spring with a mission of community
stewardship. He is the general manager of The Garrison
and Highlands Country Club, both in Garrison. He holds
a master’s degree in real estate from MIT’s Center for
Real Estate and Urban Studies and Planning.
MELINDA SULLIVAN
BEUF of Gardiner was appointed director
of project finance for The Ulster County Development
Corp. in Kingston. Most recently, she was vice president
and chief of staff of sales and operations information
technology for Deutsche Bank in New York City and London.

County Bar Association. He is a senior partner with the

P.L.L.C., a general practice law firm located in Newburgh.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from State University
of New York at Buffalo and a law degree from Pace University
School of Law.

MEDICAL CENTER in Middletown announced

SANDRA IBERGER of East Fishkill
was appointed vice president of operations at the Horton
campus. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business
administration and management and a Master of Business
Administration degree from Baruch College/Mount Sinai
School of Medicine.
SHAFIQ RAB of Skillman,
N.J. was appointed vice president of information technology
and chief information officer. Most recently, he was
vice president and chief information officer at St. Mary’s
Hospital in Passaic, N.J. He holds a Bachelor of Science
degree in business administration and management and
a Master of Business Administration degree in health
care administration from the University of South Carolina.
PUTNAM HOSPITAL CENTER, a nonprofit acute
care hospital in Carmel, announced the following appointments.

CALABRESE of Danbury, Conn. was appointed director of
human resources. Most recently, she was vice president
of human resources at Ivans Inc., a financial services
firm in Greenwich, Conn. She holds a bachelor’s degree
in mathematics from Manhattanville College and a master’s
degree in business administration in management and accounting
from Long Island University Graduate School of Business.
JENNIFER GILBERT-COHN of Yorktown Heights, a certified nurse midwife, was appointed
to the medical staff. She holds a Bachelor of Science
degree in nursing from the University of New Hampshire

of today and tomorrow, Rockland Economic Development
Corp. announced the 7th annual Forty
Under 40 Program. Sponsored by The Journal News,
the program seeks to honor 40 Rockland County individuals
who are under the age of 40 and making their mark on
Rockland County in positive ways through their commitment
to growth, development, professional excellence and the
community-at-large. Anyone who is under the age of 40
as of Dec, 31 and lives and works in Rockland County
is eligible for nomination. Individuals may be nominated
by a peer, client, employer, college, family member,
any other organization, or self-nominated (self-nominations
must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation). The
