The Orange County Land Trust announced that it would receive $69,000 from two grants awarded by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) through its Hudson River Estuary Grant program. Hudson River Estuary grants, from the DEC, fund projects that protect natural areas along the Hudson River, including watershed lands, scenic landscapes and upland habitats. For its funded projects, the Orange County Land Trust will focus on the Wallkill River, a tributary of the Hudson River, in conjunction with the Land Trust’s Wallkill River Task Force.

The Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan has been awarded $35,000 in state funding to expand philanthropic services in Orange and Sullivan counties. The money will be used to provide services to existing and future donors who set up permanent charitable endowed funds through the foundation. The funding was secured by New York state Sen.
