Full house at Ulster business show

The 11th annual Ulster County Business Showcase Sept. 30 at Ulster Community College attracted 126 exhibitors, a record number, according to Ward Todd, president of the Ulster County Chamber of Commerce, which hosted the event.

 

With every exhibit booth filled, Todd said there had been a waiting list of more than a dozen businesses seeking space. The showcase is designed to spur both business-to-business networking as well as draw consumers, Todd said.

 

The participants ranged from businesses to colleges to nonprofits to business associations.

 

Sectors represented included banking, health care, education, environmental services, real estate, tourism, media, telecommunications and agriculture. There were big-box retailers and specialty small businesses, such as Woodstock Harley-Davidson and Kingston-based The Body Shop at Home, which describes itself as a “corporate pampering events” firm. Forty-two of the exhibitors were sponsors of the event, and nearly two-dozen students from the business school at SUNY New Paltz volunteered their services.
