Dr. Phillip Massengill, a surgeon at Hudson Valley Ear, Nose and Throat, Middletown, was inducted a “Fellow” of the American College of Surgeons, Chicago, a scientific and educational association of surgeons.

Jennifer A. Moscardi of Cortlandt Manor, assistant treasurer, senior auditor at Union State Bank, Orangeburg, received the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation from the Institute of Internal Auditors, Altamonte Springs, Fla.

Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown and Goshen, received a $31,200 grant from Aetna, a health-care benefits company, to help establish a palliative-care program, which will provide family-centered care to patients with progressive, chronic and life-limiting illnesses.

Ellenville Regional Hospital, Ellenville, received a $25,000 donation from the Provident Bank Charitable Foundation, Montebello, to help support the hospital’s new emergency department.

State University of New York at New Paltz announced that Lawrence E. Bauer, a retired businessman, and Joan Lawrence-Bauer, a former faculty member at the university, have pledged $10,000 to the School of Business at the university. Bauer and Lawrence-Bauer are alumni of the university: Bauer received a Master of Arts degree in literature and Lawrence-Bauer received a Bachelor of Science degree in communication and media studies.

DOT Federal Credit Union, Poughkeepsie, received a five-star rating from Bauer Financial Inc., an independent bank rating firm. The award recognizes the credit union’s continual outstanding financial performance and strength.
