1. Pictured at the Orange County Chamber of Commerce’s first breakfast in the new year (from left) are: Bill Sammis, Hope Schuermann and Jean Savona of Crystal Run Village Inc., an organization serving people with disabilities, and sponsor of the morning event. Honored at the breakfast, held Jan. 10, in the Town of Wallkill Country Club, was outgoing Commander Brig. Gen. Dana Demand of the 105th Airlift Wing at the Air National Guard based at Stewart International Airport in New Windsor. Brig. Gen. Demand (center) is pictured, in photo 1a, with Col. Charles Faro (left), 105th Airlift vice commander, and the new commander, Col. Verle Johnson.

2. Laura Moritz of Classic Mortgages and founder of the Professional Women’s Network (PWN) shared some good news with members of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce at its recent luncheon. Just 1 year old, PWN beginning Jan. 17 will be incorporated and re-named Women’s In Network. The growth in membership has been so great says Moritz, that she has to bring the organization to the next level of management and services.

3. Joseph Campo, a mortgage representative for BNY Mortgage Company L.L.C., joined Mary McClurg, vice president and business manager of Provident Bank’s Warwick branch, at the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce’s networking luncheon, Jan. 10, at Greetings & Salutations in Warwick. Joanne Graney (second from right, photo 3a), owner of Greetings & Salutations, greeted (from left) Valerie Torino, Paychex; Tom Ammons, president of Affinity Advantage; and Diane Falco, sales manager for the Marriott of Middletown, at her restaurant, which hosted the chamber luncheon.

4. Sadie Tallie, secretary of the Orange County Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission, presents Tyrone Griffin, son of the late “Sister Kaitie” Griffin-Gafford, with a plaque from the commission recognizing him for “continuing his mother’s work in keeping the dream of Dr. King alive.” The presentation took place at the commission’s annual celebration of the civil rights leader’s life, on Jan. 14, at Temple Sinai in Middletown.

5. The Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie swim team happily poses for the photographer before boarding AirTran’s inaugural flight from Stewart International Airport to Florida, on Jan. 11. Also boarding the plane was New York Mets pitcher Tom Glavine, who was swamped by the team for his autograph. Could it be that the smiles were for Glavine.
