TechCity targets renewable energy in bid to fill space

TechCity in Kingston is looking to increase its occupancy rate by marketing itself in the coming months as a home for manufacturers of green building materials and alternative energy resources.

Patients and visitors to Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel won’t have much trouble parking their cars over the next several months during construction of the hospital’s new addition. All they’ll have to do is pull up to a kiosk and let a valet attendant park their car. State Sen. Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, R-Brunswick, has proposed his own three-year $1.3 billion series of tax cuts targeted to smaller businesses. Nearly half the savings -- $550 million worth -- would be achieved by eliminating the income tax and corporate franchise tax on manufacturers, regardless of size and status. The cut would apply to manufacturers operating as a corporation, or as a partnership, or limited liability company.

Westchester’s largest owner of class A office space will fade into history this week when Reckson Associates Realty Corp. is acquired by a Manhattan real estate investment trust in a $6 billion sale expected to close Thursday.
