Andrew Catapano of Chappaqua was promoted to president of the Northeast office of USI Holdings Corp., Briarcliff Manor, a distributor of insurance and financial products and services to businesses. Catapano is based in Briarcliff Manor. He joined USI in July 2005 as regional chief of sales and marketing officer. Prior to that, he was a managing director at Marsh and McLennan, New York City. Catapano holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business and a Master of Business Administration degree, both from Dowling College.

John Morgan of Yonkers was appointed senior vice president for financial operations at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla. Since 1984, Morgan worked at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center, Bronx, most recently as chief financial officer and previously as vice president of finance. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from Iona College.

Consolidated Edison Company of New York Inc. (Con Edison), New York City, an electric, gas and steam utility, announced the following promotions.

William G. Longhi of Somers was promoted to senior vice president of central operations. Most recently, Longhi was vice president of Manhattan electric operations. Prior to that, he was vice president of system and transmission operations. Before that, he was vice president of operations at Orange and Rockland Utilities, Spring Valley, a subsidiary of Consolidated Edison Inc. Before that, he worked at Con Edison as general manager of electric operations in Brooklyn. Before that, he was chief engineer of distribution engineering. He joined Con Edison in 1976. Longhi holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Cornell University.

John J. McAvoy of Brewster was promoted to vice president of system and transmission operations. Since 2004, McAvoy was general manager of system operations. Previously, he was general manager of Brooklyn/Queens electric operations. Before that, he was general manager of substation operations. Before that, he was plant manager of the East River generating station. Earlier, he was plant manager of the Indian Point generating station. He joined Con Edison in 1980. McAvoy holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in mechanical engineering from Manhattan College and a Master of Business Administration degree from New York University.

Dr. Andres Fortino was appointed associate provost and dean of the Westchester campus at Polytechnic University, based in Hawthorne. Since 2004, Fortino was dean of the School of Management at Marist College, Poughkeepsie. Prior to that, he was associate dean of academic development at George Mason University, Fairfax, Va. From 1983 to 1998, he was a senior instructor at Learning Tree International, Reston, Va. Fortino holds both a Bachelor of Engineering degree and a Master of Engineering degree in electrical engineering from the City College of New York and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in electrical engineering from the City University of New York.

Ginsburg Development Cos. (GDC), Valhalla, a real estate design, development and management company, announced the following promotions.

Andrew Maniglia of Valhalla was promoted to vice president of development. Maniglia joined GDC in 2000 as director of development and chief government affairs officer. Prior to that, he was director of finance at the NYC Educational Construction Fund, Queens. Maniglia holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in business and political Science from Iona College.

Gary Lowitt of New York City was promoted to vice president of acquisitions. Lowitt joined GDC in August 2005 as director of acquisitions and development in its Pomona office. Prior to that, he was self-employed as a real estate broker. Before that, he was a development manager at Tarragon Corp., New York City. Lowitt holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in dynamics of grammar from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in real estate and finance from Northwestern University.

Dr. Jacqueline Reina of Carmel was appointed behavioral services manager at Ability Beyond Disability, Bethel, Conn., a not-for-profit organization that provides services to individuals with disabilities. Most recently, Reina was an organizational management consultant to Pepsi Cola North America. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Roger Williams University and both a Master of Arts degree in general psychology and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in clinical and school psychology from Hofstra University.

Marina Novie of Montebello was appointed director of patient services at St. Cabrini Long Term Home Health Care, a program of St. Cabrini Nursing Home, Dobbs Ferry. Most recently, Novie was regional director of patient care at Confident Care of New Jersey. Prior to that, she was a nurse coordinator at the Visiting Nurse Association of Brooklyn. Novie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Molloy College.

Geneive Brown Metzger of Cortlandt Manor, president of Geneive Brown Associates, Cortlandt Manor, a public relations firm, was appointed chair of the women leadership committee of the National Minority Business Council, New York City, a minority- and women-owned business advocacy organization. Brown Metzger has been a member of the council since 1986. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the City College of New York and a Master of Arts degree in political science and government relations from Columbia University.

John Goldsmith of Pound Ridge was elected to the board of directors of the Lexington Center for Recovery, Mount Kisco, a nonprofit organization providing chemical dependency treatment services. Before retiring, Goldsmith was director of business development at Phelps Memorial Hospital Center, Sleepy Hollow. He holds both a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Business Administration degree from Washington University and a Master of Science degree in health services administration from New School University.

Christine Gelwicks of Bedford Hills was appointed to the board of directors of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester, Mount Kisco, a nonprofit organization that provides programs and services to the youth.
